Director, Student Life
Jen Gonzales is currently serving student affairs as the Director, Student Life. Jen is a first generation student being the second in her large Ecuadorian-Canadian family to graduate from post-secondary education. During her years as an undergraduate student at the University of Guelph, Jen got involved as a student leader in residence and began to discover a passion for teaching, building community, coaching, and midnight visits to the cafeteria for hamburgers. After course correcting her career path from medicine to Student Affairs, Jen served as a live in Residence Life Manager at Guelph supporting 600 first year students through their residence experience.
The pursuit of a Masters in Teaching with a focus on curriculum development at OISE/UofT brought Jen to Toronto and eventually to Ryerson. Today in her portfolio Jen connects the work of Student Life Programs, International Student Support and the Tri-mentoring program to the wider Ryerson community. Jen is a practicing life coach and works to empower her clients to make their best possible imagined life a reality. She loves traveling, exploring new restaurants, yoga, basketball, and aspires to write a book one day.
